What is the lifespan of a Burmese mountain dog?

Bernese mountain dogs live between 7 and 9 years. This breed has some health issues, such as hip, elbow and eye problems, that can affect length and quality of life.

These low energy, friendly dogs can reach 120 pounds and 27.5 inches tall for males in their short lifespan. Bernese mountain dogs were originally bred to be used as draft animals, but in modern types are usually used for companionship. Because of their origins, this breed needs daily moderate exercise, such as a walk, and enjoys pulling activities. Their long, thick coats make them highly tolerant of cold temperatures, and gives them a low tolerance for high temperatures.
