The highest mountain in Spain is Mulhacén in the Sierra Nevada. At 11,411 feet, it's the highest mountain on the Iberian Peninsula. The highest mountain on a Spanish territory is Pico de Teide, on Tenerife in the Canary Islands. This mountain is 12,198 feet high.
Mulhacén, which is in the south of Spain, gets its name from Abu l-Hasan Ali. He was the second to last Muslim King of Granada. He's called Muley Hacén by the Spanish and is allegedly buried at the top of the mountain.
The Teide is an active volcano and is the third highest volcano on earth. It's situated in the Teide National Park, a popular tourist attraction.
