What is the mosquito lagoon?

Mosquito Lagoon is an aquatic preserve along the Cape Canaveral National Seashore in Florida. Because the salt content of the water in the lagoon is comparable to that of the ocean, the preserve is home to many ocean fish.

Most of the Mosquito Lagoon is undeveloped. It is considered an Estuary of National Significance by the United States Environmental Protection Agency. Despite the fact that a large amount of it is undeveloped, there are three public parks that provide access to the lagoon, which is particularly popular with fishermen. One of the three public parks also provides public beach access.
