What is the Motocross des Nations?

The Motocross des Nations is an annual event featuring international teams that represent countries such as the United States, France, Germany, Sweden and Italy in a motocross race. Sometimes referred to as the Olympics of Motocross, mostly European and North American teams compete in the event, which takes place at a different location within a host nation each year.

This event has taken place each year since 1947; the team from Great Britain won that year. The Motocross des Nations is also the name of an individual event within the competition. In 2004, an Anglicized name, Motocross of Nations, or MXON, was adopted, though the original name and shortened versions such as des Nations and MXDN are also still used.
