Do motorhomes have brakes?

Motorhomes have standard disc brakes and may also possess air brakes, depending on how large or heavy they are. Due to the large size of a motorhome, it is imperative that proper brake maintenance be performed on a regular basis to prevent accidents from occurring.

If a motorhome is driven through hilly terrain, it is important to regularly check the brakes throughout the trip to ensure they are not getting too hot. Brake fluid levels should also be checked regularly before, during and after journeys to ensure they are not getting too low. If air brakes are installed in a motorhome, the pressure and water condensation levels should be verified before driving, otherwise the brakes may not work properly.
