The Appalachian Mountains are the most significant mountain range in Pennsylvania. The Alleghany Mountains and the Pocano Mountains are Pennyslvania's largest subranges. The majority of the state's terrain is mountainous.

The Appalachian Mountain Range runs across the entire state of Pennsylvania and into several states to the north and south of it. The Alleghany Mountain Range is a part of the western-central portion of the Appalachians. The Pocano Mountain Range is located in the northeastern part of the state. Other mountain ranges in Pennsylvania include the Bear Pond Mountains, the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Conewago Mountains and the Endless Mountains. The Moosic Mountains and Town Hill Mountain Range are others.
