Are MTA bus passes transferable?

MTA bus passes are transferrable with certain limits. If the bus pass is purchased with the MetroCard, it is transferrable from buses to buses, buses to subways and subways to buses. It only applies within two hours after paying for the bus fare.

There are also Unlimited Ride MetroCard bus passes that have no time limits during the day. These only apply for local buses, and not Express buses with the exception of buying a 7-day Express Bus Plus MetroCard. If the bus pass was purchased with coins, it only transfers between buses of intersecting routes. The bus driver is able to provide information about when and where the pass can be used for transfers.
