How much does a Bulldog puppy cost?

Pet-quality Bulldog puppies sold for around $2,000 each in 2013. Hedrick's English Bulldogs explains that this high price is necessary because of the unusually high costs associated with breeding Bulldogs.

English Bulldogs cannot breed or give birth naturally, so conception is performed by artificial insemination, and birth requires a Cesarean section. After the birth, the puppies are very fragile and require around-the-clock nursing for the first two weeks. Most litters contain only four or five puppies. In order to cover the costs and time required to raise each litter, the puppies have to be priced much higher than most purebred puppies.
