How much was Canelo Alvarez paid per fight in 2013?

According to USA Today, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez earned $12.5 million in his fight against Floyd Mayweather, Jr. in September 2013. In April 2013, Alvarez also fought against Austin Trout. However, his earnings for that fight were not officially released.

An audience of 40,000 fans were in attendance at the Alamodome in San Antonio for the Alvarez vs. Trout match. In the fight, Alvarez successfully defended his World Boxing Council Light Middleweight title, and won the World Boxing Association and The Ring Magazine Light Middleweight titles. He defeated Trout via a unanimous decision. For his next fight, Alvarez faced Mayweather, Jr. in what was considered a boxing superfight. After the bout, Mayweather received the win by a majority decision and marked the first professional loss for Alvarez.
