How much does it cost to make a will?

As of 2015, most lawyers charge approximately $150 to $600 for basic wills, reports LegalZoom. If other estate planning documents are needed, the price averages $1000 to $1500. Do-it-yourself kits are also available for as low as $10, but may not properly align with individual state laws or customer's needs.
Many lawyers advertise flat rates for basic services such as wills. However, the American Bar Association reminds customers to be wary, as advertised rates may not include all applicable fees. Lawyers may also charge an hourly rate, especially if the will is non-standard, according to Nolo. Some lawyers may charge as little as $150 per hour, but most charge more than $200 per hour.
