For landscaping purposes, a depth of at least 2 inches is preferred. Walkways require 3 inches, and a driveway may require up to 4 inches. Crushed stone also commonly comes in 3/8-inch and 1/2-inch sizes. Larger sizes allow for better drainage. Crushed stone can be used in place of any gravel of the same size.
