In 2012, the BBC's Children in Need program raised ?43.3 million, ?26,757,446 of which was raised on their Appeal Night. 2013's Appeal Night raised over ?31.1 million, setting a record for the fundraising evening.
The BBC's Children in Need program was established in 1980 as a charity to help disabled and disadvantaged children in the United Kingdom. It raises money through an annual telethon known as Appeal Night held every November, as well as receiving donations from many other sources. Part of the money raised on Appeal Night comes from fundraising events held all over the United Kingdom on that day. As of 2014, Children in Need had raised over ?720 million to help children in need.
