How much energy does recycling aluminum save?

By Forinfos - 09/05/2026 - 0 comments

Aluminum recycling uses about 90 to 95 percent less energy than creating aluminum metal from bauxite ore. For example, the same energy required to produce a single can from ore produces about 20 cans through recycling.

Recycling even a single aluminum can saves enough energy to power most television sets for three hours or a single 100-watt light bulb for four hours. On the other hand, not recycling a single can wastes the same amount of energy as half a gallon of gasoline.

In addition to saving energy, recycling aluminum reduces carbon emissions up to 95 percent compared to creating aluminum from bauxite ore.
