Event planners in New York's Nassau and Suffolk counties and Connecticut's Bridgeport-Stamford-Norwalk metro area have the highest average pay among metropolitan areas. Employers of event planners are beginning to require that their employees hold degrees in a business discipline such as hospitality management or marketing, because the field now includes responsibilities that require a degree.
