The fee for adopting a dog at the Tahoe Vista Animal Shelter is $115 as of June 2014. This fee covers a heartworm test if the dog is over 6 months old as well as heartworm preventative pills and the necessary vaccines.

In addition, the adoption fee will cover Frontline medication for fleas, microchipping and deworming the dog. To adopt a dog, a person must complete an adoption application, be at least 18 years old and agree to have the dog spayed or neutered before they leave the shelter. The dog must also meet any other dogs that will be living in the household to ensure they will get along with one another.
