How much does a garbage truck weigh?

According to Titan Recycle and Trash, an average large garbage truck weighs about 64,000 pounds or 32 short tons. Smaller trucks weigh about 20 tons, making even the smaller trucks wear on the quality of the roads their routes follow.

Modern garbage trucks are very heavy machines that get most of their mass from the mechanisms they use to pick up, store and dump the garbage that they are made to carry.
