Prices for heat pumps include installation, assuming adequate air ducts are installed already to allow the pump to function properly. Adding ducts for a full-size heat pump can double or triple costs depending on the complexity of the work required. However, mini-split systems are often designed to eschew ducts entirely, so their installation costs are much less affected by ventilation issues.
