The 2015 Chevrolet SS has a 6.2-liter V8 engine that produces 415 peak horsepower and 415 foot-pounds of torque. This lets the SS accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 4.7 seconds.

Despite being similar in appearance to the four-door Impala sedan, the 2015 Chevrolet SS is not mechanically related to any version of the current Impala. The SS is instead based on the Holden Commodore, a performance sedan constructed by an Australian subsidiary of General Motors. The SS uses GM's rear-wheel drive Zeta platform as its basis, rather than the front-wheel drive Epsilon II platform underpinning the 2015 Impala.
