Starting salaries for exercise science majors ranged from $18,000 to $30,000 in 2009-2010, according to the University of Tennessee. Exercise science majors become athletic trainers, exercise physiologists, fitness managers, physical therapists and strength coaches.

The median annual pay for athletic trainers was $42,690 in 2012. Exercise physiologists earned a median annual salary of $48,790 in the same year. Fitness trainers earned a median pay of $31,720 per year in 2012. Exercise science majors can expect to earn more money with advanced degrees, such as a Ph.D. Some doctors earn exercise science degrees before earning advanced medical degrees. Exercise physiologists and athletic trainers can expect 5,400 more job opportunities until 2024.
