How much does the President get paid?
By Forinfos - 25/08/2025 - 0 comments
The President of the United States earns $400,000 per year. This is an increase over the $200,000-year salary that was paid from 1969 to 2001; the increase was signed into law by President George W. Bush.
In addition to his salary, the president receives a $50,000 expense account per year. While his salary is taxable, the expense account is not taxed. The president's salary is controlled by law and set by Congress. Presidential salaries have risen drastically over the years, from the $25,000 paid to George Washington to the $100,000 paid to Harry Truman to the $200,000 paid to Richard Nixon.
