Purebred rabbit hunting dogs, most commonly beagles, can cost anywhere from $1,200 to $2,000 on average. Known for its friendly personality, size and love of the hunt, the beagle is the most recognized rabbit hunting dog.
With their roots dating as far back as the 14th century in England, beagles became a common pet for hunting rabbits. Its small size, dense coat and nose allow them to find rabbits in heavy brush where rabbits hide. The American beagle generally weighs between 18 and 30 pounds and stands about 13 to 15 inches tall. Its U.S. roots date back to the 16th century.
