How much should you charge for sewing?
By Forinfos - 18/06/2025 - 0 comments
As of 2008, $15 per hour was considered a fair price to charge for sewing, and as of 2010, $20 per hour was encouraged as fair, according to What the Craft. On top of that, a seamstress should charge for all materials used in a project.
Not only should a seamstress add the hourly cost for labor and the cost for materials, but extra should be added for profit. One method of doing this is to double the labor and materials costs. If selling to a retail store, this is the preferable way to mark up the price. Another way to include profit in price calculations is to raise the per-hour calculation for labor.
