How much does a typical hospital room cost?

Hospital room costs can vary from state to state and also by the type of ownership. A 2013 review by Becker's Healthcare puts the price range, across all 50 states, between $371 and $3714 per patient per day without insurance. Prices for 2015 may be higher.
State and for-profit hospitals are often lower in price than private hospitals. Hospitals in the middle of the country, such as in Nebraska or Wisconsin, are also less costly than those on the east or west coast. These prices often do not include medications and major treatment. Insurance usually covers most of all of the costs depending on the policy.
