A standard veterinarian visit costs between $45 and $55, depending on the veterinarian. This usually covers the cost of the check-up and exam. Basic exams include taking their temperatures, checking their weights, looking in their ears and doing a simple physical examination.
Some veterinarian check-ups include additional services that cost extra. For example, vaccine boosters at the vet's office can be up to $25 or more. These are done two to four times a year. Other services that cost extra include flea treatment, heartworm tests, fecal exams, X-rays, dental cleaning, geriatric screening and grooming services. Some dogs also get their anal sacs expressed, which costs extra.
