How does music affect your brain?

Music stimulates various areas of the brain, which can affect how a person feels and affect the person's ability to focus in many types of learning. Author Daniel Levitin and a group of scientists at Stanford have known that music affects not only the older parts of the brain, but the newer parts as well.
The brain fires in a specific order, with the first step being the changing of sounds into neural impulses that the organ can understand. Once this occurs, the auditory cortex is triggered. This is followed by the triggering of the frontal regions of the brain and finally, the mesolimbic region, which is involved in arousal and the production of dopamine among many other operations.
