What is the NAIC number on an insurance card?
By Forinfos - 22/04/2025 - 0 comments
The five-digit NAIC number on an insurance card is an insurer's company code, issued by The National Association of Insurance Commissioners. In most states, it is the primary identifier for any company for filing taxes, annual reports and other business-related paperwork.
Some states, as well some individual agencies such as the DMV, require that a company use a different identifier than the NAIC number, such as it's Certificate of Insurance number. Typically, however, the NAIC number is used, and tax forms for business owners require it. To apply for one, the NAIC has a short application, and the wait time is about four days.
