What is the name of a daring jumping spider?
By Forinfos - 23/08/2025 - 0 comments
The daring jumping spider is known by the scientific name Phidippus audax. The species is found in the grasslands, open prairies and woodlands of southeastern Canada and throughout much of the United States and is known to frequent backyards and gardens.
This small black spider bears white or gray markings. Males range in length from 6 to 13 millimeters, and the slightly larger females measure 8 to 15 millimeters. The spider is named for its spectacular ability to jump more than 30 times its body length. While the spider does use silk to construct small shelters, it usually pounces on prey instead of using webs to snare victims.
