By Forinfos - 26/04/2025 - 0 comments
An organism that eats other organisms, living or dead, is called a consumer. Consumers are known by other names, depending on the type of food consumed. Categories of consumers include the omnivores, the meat-eating carnivores, the fruit-eating frugivores, the plant-eating herbivores and the detrivores that eat dead organic material.
Omnivores may eat many kinds of organisms, including animals, vegetables, grains, fruits, nuts, grasses or other plants.
A predator is a specific type of organism that hunts and eats other organisms. Predators may be either carnivores or herbivores.
Plants are called producers because they can produce their food from non-living matter. A few plant species are carnivorous.
