As of September 2015, Richard Gere's newest movie is "Time Out of Mind." It was released in New York City on September 9, 2015. A limited nationwide release occurred two days later.

In "Time Out of Mind," Gere plays George, a man living on the streets of New York City and, sometimes, in Bellevue hospital's homeless shelter. In order to present a more natural view of George, the director shot many scenes with hidden cameras and through windows and storefronts. During most of the filming, Gere blended into his surroundings as a real homeless person and was recognized by only two individuals.
