The three ghosts named in "A Christmas Carol" are the ghosts or spirits of Christmas past, present, and future. These three ghosts tell Ebenezer Scrooge of his future if he does not change his ways.
The story was written by Charles Dickens and was published in 1843. The main character of the story is a cheap miser named Mr. Scrooge. His love for money and his lack of regard for others results in three ghostly encounters in one night. The three visits begin after Ebenezer receives a visit from his deceased business partner, who gives Mr. Scrooge a warning to change his ways. After a glance into his past, present and future, Mr. Scrooge has a change of heart.
