Britain's Queen Elizabeth II is a well-known animal lover; she has owned dogs named Dookie, Jane, Crackers, Carol, Susan, Willow, Holly, Candy and Vulcan. The queen is most closely associated with a specific dog breed, the corgi, to which she was first introduced as a child by her father, King George VI.

Young Princess Elizabeth, and her sister, Princess Margaret, loved their first corgi, Dookie, and both of them remained fond of the breed.
