Natto is a traditional Japanese food that is made from fermented soybeans and is described as having a very strong flavor. Natto has a sticky texture resulting from the fermentation process. Natto is traditionally served with a raw egg and soy sauce over cooked rice.
Natto is made by adding Bacillus natto, a bacteria, to soybeans. Natto is considered extremely healthy and is high in protein and dietary fiber, contains no preservatives and is gluten-free. Natto is helpful in reducing blood clotting and preventing cancer and is said to have anti-aging properties. Natto has a distinct taste, smell and texture.
