Who is Senator Patty Murray?

Senator Patty Murray is the senior Senator from the state of Washington and a member of Senate Democratic Leadership. Senator Murray is chair of the Committee on the Budget and a member of the Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, the Appropriations Committee and the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee.

Senator Murray is the first female senator from the state of Washington. Before entering the U.S. Senate, Murray was a member of the Shoreline School Board in Shoreline, Wash. She then served in the Washington State Senate. Senator Murray graduated from Washington State University, is married and has two children and one grandchild.
