The NDAA, or National Defense Authorization Act, is a federal law used to specify and authorize the Department of Defense's budget each year. It is also used to secure funding for the Department of Energy's national security programs, according to the Armed Services Committee.

Although the NDAA differs from year to year, for Fiscal Year 2014, the NDAA contained provisions for expenditures of $607 billion for the DOD. The bill, which sets policies for expenditures and establishes levels of funding, was signed into law on Dec. 26, 2013 and marked the 53rd year in a row that the NDAA was passed, states Wikipedia.
