Do you need an account to use the lending library?

An Amazon Prime account is required to borrow books from the Kindle Owners' Lending Library. Valid account types include paid Amazon Prime, paid Amazon Student and trial members.
Individuals can borrow books for an indefinite period of time and can transfer the content to other Amazon Kindle and Fire devices registered to the account. The Kindle Owners' Lending Library benefits are also compatible with Amazon Household and Family Library. Members can borrow one title each month. Available books may change monthly. Users who have reached their monthly limit are prompted to return the book before borrowing a new book. Highlights and bookmarks are saved to the user's Amazon account.
