What do you need to make bubbles?

Liquid dishwater, not dishwasher, soap, glycerin and water are needed to make bubbles. Glycerin is typically available at drug stores and is added to the solution to make the bubbles last longer. For best results, it is important to have the correct proportions of ingredients.

An effective bubble solution mixes one-half cup of dishwater soap, 4 1/2 cups of water and 4 tablespoons of glycerin. If a few drops of food coloring are added to the solution, the bubbles are tinted. The ingredients should be mixed gently with a spoon. If any bubbles form on the surface of the solution, it is possible, though not necessary, to skim them off with a spoon. Leftover solution is saved in a closed container.
