Johnny Taylor died of a heart attack at age 66 in Dallas, Texas. Taylor was an accomplished singer of rhythm and blues, disco, pop, gospel, soul and blues.
Taylor was born on May 5, 1934, and died on May 31, 2000. He was born in Crawfordville, Arkansas, and he died at Charlton Methodist Hospital. He was later buried beside his mother, Ida Mae Taylor, at Forest Hill Cemetery in Kansas City, Missouri. He worked on at least nine albums and 40 singles during his career as a singer. He sang in gospel groups as a young man, but his professional singing career began around 1953 and continued until his death.
