When fasting, a normal blood sugar level for a diabetic person is less than 100, according to WebMD. If a person is taking insulin, the normal level before exercise is at least 100. It is recommended that individuals with diabetes keep a journal or log each time blood sugar is tested, along with a list of medication and dosage taken, foods eaten and type of exercise.
