What is the normal temperature for a newborn?
By Forinfos - 23/11/2025 - 0 comments
The normal temperature for a newborn ranges from 97 to 100.3 degrees Fahrenheit, according to BabyCenter. If the temperature is taken rectally, the normal range extends to anything under 100.4 F; a baby with a rectal temperature of 100.4 F has a fever.
Rectal temperatures are more accurate in newborns than temperatures taken in the mouth, ear or under the arm, according to WebMD. A baby with a fever is likely to show symptoms including crankiness, poor sleeping or eating, lethargy, and even convulsions. BabyCenter recommends calling a pediatrician if a newborn's temperature is 100.4 F or higher, especially if the fever persists for 24 hours.
