Northern pike feed during daylight hours in the spring and fall. They are most active in the morning and early evening and feed in excess in the spring due to breeding habits.
Northern pike are a freshwater predatory fish that mainly feed on other fish. Pike have also been known to feed on small amphibians, mice, ducks and aquatic mammals. Pike are a popular fish amongst anglers due to their agility and elusiveness. The average adult northern pike is 28 to 47 inches long and weighs 4 to 35 pounds. The largest pike caught on record was 60 inches long and weighed 62 pounds.
