The New Revised Standard Version of the Bible was published in 1989. It was translated by Orthodox, Catholic, Protestant and Jewish scholars. The full edition includes the Protestant canon as well as the Deuterocanonical books that are used by Catholic and Orthodox Christians.
The NRSV is an updated version of the Revised Standard Version, which was published in 1946. The new translation attempts to eliminate archaic and sexist language. It is endorsed by 33 Protestant churches and has received the blessing of the Greek Orthodox Church and the American and Canadian Conference of Catholic bishops. It is available in many study editions, such as The New Oxford Annotated Bible and The Green Bible.
