When were the Greek and Hebrew Bibles translated into English?

The Geneva Bible was completed in 1560 as the first completely English version translated directly from the original Hebrew and Greek texts. Previous English translations, such as the one by William Tyndale, were based on the Latin Vulgate translation of the Bible, which was completed in the fourth century A.D.

A committee of Protestant reformers completed the Geneva translation while living in the city of the same name. The Geneva Bible is the first translation completed by a group rather than an individual, and it's the first English version to include verse divisions. This translation and Tyndale's earlier work formed the basis of the King James Version.
