What is an objective summary?

An objective summary is an optional CV/resume section where the writer concisely introduces her relevant professional goals, skills and qualifications. In this section, the writer describes specifically how she is an excellent match for the position she is seeking. She also sheds light on her achievements in the field.

Sometimes referred to as a professional summary, an objective summary identifies the writer's goals and the type of industry and position she is seeking. It often comes at the beginning of the CV/resume and provides a focus for the document that is supported by the other sections (education, work history, certifications, etc.).
