Ocelots live primarily in the rain forests of South America. They also live in Central America, Mexico and even some as far north as southern Texas.
While ocelots have a large area in which they can live, they are currently on the endangered species list and are thus protected in the United States as well as in many other countries. Female ocelots normally only have two to three kittens per year. Ocelots mainly hunt at night; their diet consists of rabbits, rodents like rats and mice, iguanas, fish and frogs, and they have been known to climb trees and hunt monkeys. Some ocelots have even been raised as pets by celebrities such as Salvador Dali.
