Does Ohio require a license plate on the front of a vehicle?

The State of Ohio requires two license plates on all vehicles: one on the front and one on the back. Currently, House Bill 133 is being debated and, if passed, would require a single license plate on all the back of all vehicles.

According to the Ohio Liberty Coalition, Ohio House Bill (HB) 133 would save the state $1.3 million. Many vehicle manufacturers are no longer providing space for the front license plate in their new models, requiring owners to drill holes to accommodate the plate. Additionally, antique vehicles were never designed to hold a front license plate, as they were not always required.
