Does okra grow well in containers?

Okra grows well in containers, but because it is quite top heavy and can reach heights of 4 to 7 feet, dwarf varieties of okra work best when growing in containers. Secure a tomato cage to the top of okra containers to keep the plants upright and prevent damage.

To add extra weight and protect the container from falling over, add large rocks to the bottom of large containers before planting the okra in them. Okra likes plenty of water, and okra grown in containers must be watered frequently, especially during dry spells, to produce a substantial amount of pods.
