According to the Government of Canada, individuals must be at least 60 years old to begin receiving payouts under a CPP pension. However, the payout at age 60 is a permanently reduced pension that is lower than one would receive at the age of 65.
In addition, an individual must have made a minimum of one valid payment to the CPP pension while working in order to qualify for the pension payments. Residents of Canada can apply for the CPP retirement pension through the official website for the Government of Canada.
The CPP pension plan is available in all provinces of Canada with the exception of Quebec. Quebec has its own similar pension program.
