Are old pennies worth anything?

The value of an older penny depends on the date when the penny was minted. The rule of thumb is that pennies dated before 1934 are generally worth more than those dated after 1934.

If you're looking to earn real money from your old pennies, the 1909-S V.D.B., 1909-S, 1914-D, 1922 with no mint mark, and 1931-S cent are worth hundreds of dollars apiece. Pennies from the 1910s and 1920s that feature the mint mark of a "D" or an "S" are usually worth tens of dollars apiece, and even regular pennies that do not have the mint mark dated before 1934 are worth approximately 10 to 20 cents each.
