The oldest college football rivalry is between the schools of Lehigh and Lafayette. They have clashed over 140 times since 1884, back when football was only an emerging sport from the game of rugby.
The Lafayette Leopards had a two-year head start playing the game, so they easily beat the Lehigh Mountain Hawks. The two teams have faced each other at least once a year since 1884 with few exceptions. They have faced off more than any other two college teams, including the oldest of football foes, Harvard-Yale and Princeton-Yale. Lafayette currently leads the series, but it is mostly a friendly feud.
