Are there any online photo galleries of American Indians?

Online photo galleries of Native American Indians are available on many websites, including FirstPeople.us, History.com, the Digital Library section of Northwestern.edu and Archives.gov. Most galleries include pictures of tribal members, customary shelters and ceremonial events.

The First People website provides users with thousands of pictures in several galleries, such as "American Indian Photographs" and "Canoes and Other Sailing Vessels." History.com offers users three galleries, titled "Native American Legislation," "Native American Tribes and Cultures" and "Native American Warriors and Battles." Northwestern University's website provides a complete digital archive of the Edward S. Curtis project "The North American Indian," which includes over 2,000 images and accompanying text. The National Archives site offers photographs provided by government agencies, including the U.S. Army and the Bureau of Indian Affairs. The site offers over 20 categories of photographs and an index by tribe.
